50-not-out is part of the new Village Agents Partnership pilot project which is being rolled out from October 2009 in Braintree, Chelmsford and Maldon districts.
Events
We are currently actively promoting the project and will be organising further advisor days in the community at venues soon to be notified.
Currently 408 people have accessed the project in this last year 2007/8. We have now exceeded the number of beneficiaries who have accessed the project for this year. Prior to this 96 people had accessed the project so a grand total of 501!! A big thank you to everyone who has accessed the project so far!
Case story - letter received recently
'I attended one of your 50 - Not - Out courses at the end of last year with [J.L.] and she helped me revise my CV and suggested some interview techniques. After re-typing my CV I applied for a part time legal secretary position in Stortford and I'm pleased to say I have just finished my 3 month probationary period and been taken on permanently.
I, like many others, thought that it would be very difficult to find employment after 50, especially as I had been at my last job for 27 years and been made redundant, but after attending the course I had a lot more confidence and felt sure there was something out there for me.
It's not just the tutors, but the girls I saw at the library at the 50 - Not Out session gave me some good pointers and informed me about extra training.
